G2 Esports and Evil Geniuses grind their way into Americas playoffs

Americas Stage 2 Play-Ins concluded with G2 Esports and Evil Geniuses securing the final two playoff spots after surviving demanding lower-bracket runs.

The pair now join MIBR and FURIA in the confirmed playoff field, bringing an end to a Play-Ins bracket that eliminated nearly every other contender in the region.

G2 claw back after an ugly upper-bracket exit

G2 Esports were unable to make a clean run through the upper bracket after FURIA knocked them down in Upper Bracket Round 2.

From there, G2 were forced into a lower-bracket gauntlet, first navigating past BESTIA before meeting ENVY in a decisive series for the final qualifying spot.

G2 eventually closed the series 2-1, recovering from a loss on Ascent by taking Lotus and Haven.

babybay led the way with a plus-17 K/D and 245 ACS, delivering the strongest overall performance for G2 during the series.

On the opposite side, keznit produced 258 ACS and earned MVP honors for ENVY , but his individual showing was not enough to keep the team’s Play-Ins run alive.

Evil Geniuses survive a KRÜ scare in Round 3

Evil Geniuses also found themselves in the lower bracket after losing to FURIA in Upper Bracket Round 3.

Their final obstacle was KRÜ Esports, with the last playoff berth on the line.

KRÜ struck first by taking Lotus 13-9, but Evil Geniuses responded emphatically. dgzin took control of the series with 273 ACS and a plus-22 K/D, helping EG level the match with a 13-9 victory on Sunset before closing the series with a dominant 13-3 win on Summit.

Less finished with 197 ACS for KRÜ, but the performance was not enough to stop Evil Geniuses from completing the comeback.
