Cloud9 and KRU Esports start with wins at VCT 2025: Americas Stage 1

The first two matches of VCT 2025: Americas Stage 1 have taken place, delivering results that defied expectations and made the games even more exciting. Here’s a breakdown of each match.

Cloud9 vs. NRG Esports
The most thrilling matchup was between Cloud9 and NRG Esports . Aside from the unexpected result, the game was also affected by a bug involving agent Tejo—his Guided Salvo (E) ability failed to recharge within 40 seconds. As a result, the pistol round on the second map had to be replayed. Initially, NRG Esports won the pistol round, but this advantage wasn't enough to secure victory on the map or in the series. Cloud9 emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline.

KRU Esports vs. LOUD
The second match of Day 1 featured KRU Esports vs. LOUD and turned into a back-and-forth battle: The first map, Fracture, picked by KRU Esports, ended in a one-sided 3-13 defeat as LOUD dominated. On the second map, Haven, the tables turned, and KRU Esports crushed LOUD 13-2. The third and final map, Split, was a tense showdown. KRU Esports staged a comeback from 4-8 down and secured a 13-10 win, taking the series 2-1.

VCT 2025: Americas Stage 1 is being held from March 21 to May 4 in a LAN format at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles. Twelve partnered teams are competing for three slots at Masters Toronto and valuable Americas Points, which will determine the teams qualifying for Champions 2025.
