Team Occupy sues Riot Games for unpaid prize money

Team Occupy filed a lawsuit against Riot Games in Egypt, demanding prize money payments for the past season. According to the team, the amount due is approximately $8,000. As a result, Team Occupy previously refused to participate in the new season of Challengers 2025 MENA.

Initially, Team Occupy attempted to resolve the situation amicably, but Riot Games did not respond to the team's requests. After two days of waiting and consultations with lawyers, the organization officially filed a lawsuit, demanding the suspension of all Riot Games tournaments in Egypt and submitting a complaint to the Egyptian Esports Federation.

Team Occupy claims that the payment issues have negatively impacted the professional scene in the region, leading to the rise of unstable rosters instead of organized teams. In their statement, the organization urged players and viewers to boycott tournaments associated with Riot Games, accusing the company of disrespecting the Middle Eastern region. The team also emphasized that the responsibility for the unpaid prize money lies with Riot Games, as the tournament organizers operated under their aegis.

The lawsuit could set a precedent in the region's esports industry, as such lawsuits against major developers are rare. If Team Occupy succeeds, it could affect the practice of prize money payments in the future.
