EDG bring on WoodAy1
This roster move also sees Tang "Muggle" Shijun (唐时俊) transition back into a coaching role.
WoodAy1 has had limited exposure to the public Valorant sphere. Before signing with EDG, he competed in Crossfire HD under KingZone Gaming, taking home first in Seasons 3 and 4.
This year's VCT has been underwhelming for EDG. The team continued its regional dominance in both China Kickoff and Split 1, qualifying them for both Masters Madrid and Shanghai. Unfortunately, the squad was only able to pick up a singular win across both international events.
The roster looks to break past their previous results and into the upper echelons of international competition, which may be why the organization chose to sign WoodAy1 so close to Champions. It is unknown who the new talent will sub in for, as the current number of active players on EDG sits at six.
The first foes EDG will face in Split 2 are Wolves Esports , who managed to take a map off of China's kings during Kickoff. EDG currently sit atop of the Chinese leaderboards at 11 Championship Points. The team simply needs to keep up their form should they wish to qualify to Champions seoul .
