MPL Philippines Season 15 Week 2: Team Liquid PH's perfect start continues, ONIC PH face second loss
Team Liquid PH continued their winning run as ONIC PH suffered their second loss in Week 2 of MPL Philippines Season 15.
Team Liquid PH successfully extended their lead against Aurora Gaming by defeating both of their opponents in Week 2 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 15 Regular Season. While Aurora haven't suffered any losses yet, they only had one match for the entire week and thus fall behind Team Liquid PH with a one-win gap.
On the other side of the bracket, Twisted Minds PH continued their terrible performance with another two losses. This horrendous showing means they stayed rock-bottom with four losses over four matches. ONIC Philippines also had a rough week with a loss against another league title contender in Team Falcons PH .
Here are the MPL Philippines Season 15 Regular Season standings by the end of Week 2:
Team Liquid PH (4-0) +7 Game difference (GF)
Aurora Gaming (3-0) +4 GF
Team Falcons PH (3-1) +3 GF
TNC Pro Team (3-1) +3 GF
ONIC Philippines (1-2) 0 GF
AP.Bren (0-3) -5 GF
Smart Omega (0-3) -5 GF
Twisted Minds PH (0-4) -7 GF
Team Liquid PH hasn't passed the test yet
So far, Team Liquid PH have the best results in the league. However, they haven't passed the test yet to be worthy of being called the favourites once the league enters the Playoff phase. They still need to win against ONIC Philippines in the Week 3 and, of course, Aurora in the next week. The following two weeks will be challenging for the cavalry. However, they have a chance to prove they are a title-worthy contender if they can win both series.
While their games will be tough, they still have their ace-in-the-hole, Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya's Lukas pick. So far, he is the only player to win every game he played with the hero. Of the nine times Lukas has been played, only three resulted in a win – with two of those coming from Sanford while the only other one was from Jann Kirk Solcruz “Kirk” Gutierrez. It will be interesting if they can pull off a win using the hero against ONIC PH and Aurora in the coming weeks.
AP.Bren squad hasn't looked ready for MPL Philippines
Perhaps the dark horse of the tournament, AP.Bren hasn't looked convincing since their debut. The former Lazy Esports roster didn't procure a single series win in their first three matches. However, they did secure a surprising game win over Aurora, but in the end, they could not turn it into a series victory.
While all their losses are from the upper half of the table, AP.Bren didn't look like they were in the same class as their opponents – and not in a good way – in all three series. They still have a chance to prove themselves worthy in Week 3, as they will face fellow bottom dwellers in Twisted Minds PH . Narratives can shift if AP.Bren can gain some momentum. Win versus Twisted Minds PH , and they will face ONIC Philippines riding high off a victory. If they can win that next series, then we will instead be talking about a terrible start for ONIC Philippines.
MPL Philippines Season 15 will continue with Week 3 of the Regular Season on Friday (14 March). TNC Pro Team will meet Team Falcons PH on the opening day. ONIC Philippines will face Team Liquid PH and AP.Bren to prove they are still in contention for the league title.
