Falcon Esports Ar Sy: ‘The more doubters we have, the bigger our self-confidence is’ in M6
GosuGamers talked with Falcon Esports analyst Ar Sy about how the team have been silencing their doubters in the M6 World Championship so far.
One of the surprises of the M6 World Championship, Falcon Esports was among the best-performing teams in the Swiss Stage, with them picking a 3-1 score. Not only did they qualify for the next stage, which was already impressive, but the teams they defeated to reach the stage were even more impressive. They defeated Aurora Gaming , the runner-up of MPL Philippines Season 14 on their debut in the tournament, Selangor Red Giants , MPL Malaysia Season 14 champion, MSC 2024 champion, and arguably the best in-form team in the tournament, and lastly, BloodThirstyKings , the veteran of M World Championship with MobaZane at the helm.
After they qualified for the Knockout Stage, GosuGamers had a chance to interview one of the coaching staff of Falcon Esports , Rodel “Ar Sy” B. Cruz, the team analyst.
Inviting every doubters and proving them wrong :
Before the start of the M6 World Championship, Falcon Esports was one of the teams that barely qualified for the tournament. The way they won their heated grand finals of the Myanmar Qualifier against Mythic SEAL was not convincing enough for them to guarantee an excellent performance on the grandest stage of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports.
Even on our prediction for the Swiss Stage, we put them in the Dark Horse category, where we would think they could put out a surprise performance but not the favourite to advance further. They eventually proved most doubters wrong with an impressive win against Aurora Gaming . However, their form dipped when they failed to win against another surprising contender, Twisted Minds . Even after their loss against the MENA champion, they were able to regain it in a big way: they took down one of the favourites in the tournament, Selangor Red Giants .
Doubts were erased after that victory, and a 2-1 win against BloodThirstyKings cemented their position as one of the teams that needed to be highlighted more. However, Ar Sy said they wanted more doubters to boost their confidence.
“Actually, no. We want more doubters. The more doubters we have, the bigger our self-confidence is.”
Their victory over BloodThirstyKings raised questions on how they could stop the best player-hero combo in the tournament, Michael “ MobaZane ” Cosgun and Fredrinn, as not even Fnatic ONIC PH could stop their onslaught. But they did it, not only once, but twice. While it was apparent that Falcon Esports already saw Fredrinn's weakness, it limited its presence to a mere practice target with a Poke comp.
However, even though Falcon Esports already saw the weakness, BTK still trusted Fredrinn as their jungle and tried to build a comp around him. Ultimately, Falcons Esports exploited the same method again and secured the victory. After the match, Ar Sy shared his thoughts regarding Fredrinn.
“If he still continues picking Fredrinn, everybody can see his weakness. I think, in game one, game two, and game three, we already know Fredrinn's weakness. That’s why (we can win).”
In game one, when Falcons and BTK met, the American representatives surprised everyone when they picked Joy in the EXP Lane. That also surprised the Falcon Esports players, as they could not contain Ian “FwydChickn” Hohl’s onslaught. However, in the last game, when BTK used the hero again, they completely dismantled the hero. Ar Sy explained a little bit about how they managed to win the game, albeit the returning Joy.
“In game one, we were surprised they picked Joy, so we were not ready for him; that’s why we lost. But, after game one, we gathered and talked to each other, so we already know how to counter the Joy.”
Finally, after qualifying for the Knockout, we asked them the most logical question for the future: which teams they were most excited to face in the Knockout? The choice surprised no one, but the reason might be.
“ Fnatic ONIC PH , because I want to face my own country(men). Good luck, ONIC PH; we’ll see you in the grand finals.”
While FNOP were their choice of a team they were most excited to face, they were paired with NIP Flash in an upper-bracket showdown. A victory against the Singaporeans might pair them with Fnatic ONIC PH if the Filipino team can defeat their opponent, Selangor Red Giants . It is interesting to see whether Team Falcons can progress further in the tournament.
