Fnatic ONIC Yeb Explains Why His Players Never Taunting in MPL
Receiving questions from the audience, the coach from Fnatic ONIC ( Fnatic ONIC ), Yeb finally explained why his players rarely, or even never, taunting at MPL Indonesia (ID).
Taunting in esports can be interpreted as teasing which can be in the form of comments or movements whose aim is to provoke the emotions of the targeted opponent.
Even though it was initially rejected, now taunting has become a kind of culture in MPL ID, usually there will be offensive comments, sometimes mocking gestures, or at least "recalls" in the game.
People started calling it a culture because almost all teams did it, except 1, Fnatic ONIC .
Fnatic ONIC Yeb emphasizes to his players that taunting is not important
Fnatic ONIC coach, Yeb, who was broadcasting live on his social media, was asked why his team rarely taunting .
He answered that he personally didn't want that, he then went on to say that he wanted his players to be humble.
Yeb doesn't see the importance of taunting, because it doesn't affect performance, so he doesn't think it's important and his team also thinks so.
" The thing is, I don't want to be taunting, I want humble children, does taunting really add strength to ONIC? Isn't that right? So there's no need for taunting, " explained Yeb.
In the case of Fnatic ONIC who got taunted, then he allows if his players want to respond, but it's different if they do it first.
Yeb continued that according to his beliefs, someone who is good for God is someone who has a humble attitude, not the opposite.
" If you're being taunted, you might be able to return it, but if we're the first, we're aggressive, because I've learned that God only wants people to be humble, " continued Yeb.
Indeed, not all taunting means really mocking or being mean or even arrogant, sometimes it could be a form of euphoria about victory.
It's just that taunting often leads to negative things, so to avoid it, it would be better to be humble enough like Fnatic ONIC and Yeb.
