Sibol has its own rules that state that, if a player who has been invited to represent the country in the world championship, then he must be ready, and accept the offer.

And, for anyone who refuses, they will be sentenced to a ban in the form of a ban on playing for the national team, starting for two years, from the first year the invitation was submitted and rejected.

In 2023, Sanford declined the invitation. So, he was banned from playing for Sibol for the Philippine National Team for the next two years.

So, he could not participate in any activity that has anything to do with Sibol.

He received this punishment because he rejected an offer to strengthen the Philippine National Team in 2023 at the IESF competition held in Romania.

According to various sources, the reason for Sanford 's refusal was based on the entire team he was playing for not being selected to represent the country, because, according to him, this would have an impact on the team's performance and capabilities in the upcoming tournament.
