Golden Lions forfeit after connection issue in CBLOL promotion opener

KaBuM! Ilha das Lendas advanced from the opening round of the CBLOL 2027 Promotion Tournament after connectivity problems forced Golden Lions to forfeit the final game of their series.

KaBuM! won the best-of-five 3:0, but the deciding game ended after a lengthy pause rather than through normal gameplay.

Connection issue ends Game 3

KaBuM! took the first two games and appeared on course for the sweep, although Golden Lions showed a stronger start in Game 3 and held a small gold advantage around the 15-minute mark.

The match was then paused when one Golden Lions player disconnected.

Officials waited for the player to reconnect, but the pause eventually exceeded the allowed time.

Golden Lions were given the option to continue the game four-versus-five or forfeit.

The team chose to forfeit, ending both the game and series.

Remote player unable to reconnect

CBLOL later explained that one Golden Lions player had been unable to travel to São Paulo because of a personal issue and had been permitted to compete remotely.

According to the Latin American broadcast, the player attempted to relocate and reconnect during the pause but was unable to return.

Riot Brazil said there were no connectivity issues at the São Paulo facilities provided for the tournament.
