FlyQuest president and chief gaming officer Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith has publicly apologized to Marc “ Caedrel ” Lamont and other League of Legends costreamers after controversy surrounding an old FlyQuest video resurfaced during the LCS playoffs.

The video was originally published in april amid discussions about the growing influence of costreaming on professional League of Legends. At one point titled “Did Content Creators Bankrupt Esports?”, it used Caedrel prominently in the thumbnail while discussing the potential impact creator-led broadcasts could have on official league viewership and the commercial side of esports.

PapaSmithy acknowledged that the organization failed in how it approached the subject, particularly by using what he described as a clickbait thumbnail featuring Caedrel . FlyQuest has since unlisted the video.

The controversy returned to attention during FlyQuest 's playoff series against Team Liquid , where Caedrel openly described his stream as a “generational hatewatch.” Team Liquid swept FlyQuest 3:0, sending FlyQuest into the lower bracket.

PapaSmithy said FlyQuest had intended to start a nuanced discussion about costreaming but admitted the execution instead created unnecessary hostility toward creators. He specifically praised Caedrel and Christian “IWDominate” Rivera for the audiences they have helped bring to competitive League of Legends.

He also apologized to FlyQuest creators Ls , Basil and Grim , as well as the organization’s LCS players, stressing that they were not responsible for the video.

The statement came ahead of FlyQuest ’s lower-bracket match against Shopify Rebellion , with elimination and qualification hopes still on the line.
