Riot restructures LCP with new VCS, LJL and PCS pathways for 2027

Riot Games has announced major changes to the League of Legends Championship Pacific ecosystem for 2027, creating broader qualification paths from the VCS, LJL, and PCS into the LCP.

Teams will once again compete primarily in their domestic leagues in Vietnam , Japan , and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau before the strongest sides advance to the LCP.

Those teams will then compete for qualification to Riot's international tournaments, including Worlds.

Teams no longer required to relocate

One of the biggest changes removes the requirement for participating teams to permanently relocate to Taipei.

Riot acknowledged that relocation created significant costs for organizations while also limiting their ability to connect with supporters in their home markets.

The LCP Arena in Taipei will remain operational, but teams will have a route into the competition without spending the entire season based there.

Domestic leagues gain recurring qualification opportunities

Under the current system, domestic teams receive limited opportunities to reach the LCP through a Promotion Series.

Beginning in 2027, teams from the VCS, LJL, and PCS will be able to qualify for the LCP during each split.

Wildcard teams will also continue to have routes into the wider Pacific ecosystem.

Teams reaching global tournaments will additionally become eligible for revenue distributed through Riot's Global Revenue Pool.

Riot has yet to reveal the complete slot distribution and detailed competitive format for the revamped 2027 system.
