Fnatic begins major League of Legends rebuild after worst year in team history

Fnatic has announced the first steps of a major restructuring of its League of Legends division following what the organization described as the worst year in the team's history.

The organization has begun recruiting a new General Manager who will be based in Berlin and oversee the structure and development of the LoL team.

Fnatic considers the appointment the first major step in changing how the organization builds and supports its roster.

The incoming General Manager will be responsible for developing the team's culture, competitive structure, and support system.

The role will also act as a link between the League of Legends division and Fnatic 's wider organization.

Fnatic has not yet announced any specific roster changes, but confirmed that its broader offseason review remains ongoing.

Further changes could therefore follow once the new management structure begins taking shape.

Organization promises more transparency

Fnatic also plans to increase communication with its supporters following the disappointing 2026 campaign.

The organization said it wants to provide fans with more information about decision-making, create more opportunities for feedback, and offer greater access to the team behind the scenes.

Fnatic also intends to expand the work of the Fnatic Fan Association and increase the amount of content produced around its League of Legends roster.

Management will further discuss the organization's offseason plans through an X Space featuring co-founder and Chief Gaming Officer Sam Mathews and VP of Esports Franchises Xavient.

The discussion will include a review of the 2026 season, Fnatic 's approach to rebuilding the division, and questions from supporters.
