GrabbZ takes responsibility after Fnatic miss LEC playoffs and Worlds

Fnatic head coach Fabian "GrabbZ" Lohmann has taken responsibility for the organization's disappointing end to the 2026 LEC season after the team failed to reach the Summer playoffs.

Fnatic entered the final week with qualification still in their own hands, but consecutive defeats ultimately eliminated them from postseason contention and ended the organization's hopes of reaching Worlds 2026.

It is the first time Fnatic will miss the League of Legends World Championship since 2016.

Fnatic fall short again

Fnatic 's Summer campaign ended following a loss to GIANTX .

The result followed an inconsistent split in which the team occasionally showed the ability to compete with the league's stronger sides but repeatedly failed to convert those performances into consistent results.

GrabbZ described the season as a major failure and acknowledged that Fnatic frequently struggled with fundamental macro concepts, particularly wave management, jungle control and coordinating movements around the map.

He said the team often discussed those issues between games but failed to execute the same plans once on stage.

GrabbZ shoulders responsibility

Rather than publicly blaming individual players, GrabbZ placed much of the responsibility on himself and the coaching staff.

He suggested the team may not have been prepared well enough for high-pressure situations and admitted that the staff could have done more to simplify decision-making for the players.

The disappointing finish also leaves significant uncertainty around Fnatic 's future.

GrabbZ said he does not expect to automatically retain his position next season and acknowledged that the current roster may also struggle to remain together after such a disappointing year.

He nevertheless intends to continue working in esports and hopes to remain involved in professional League of Legends.

Fnatic now enter the offseason after missing both the Summer playoffs and Worlds 2026.
