Webedia to Step Away From LFL Organization Ahead of 2027 Season

Webedia to Step Away From LFL Organization Ahead of 2027 Season

Webedia will no longer organize the Ligue Française de League of Legends (LFL) starting in 2027, bringing an end to its involvement with the French League of Legends competition since its launch in 2019. The league will now need to find a new tournament organizer ahead of next season, according to a report by Sheep Esports.

End of an Eight-Year Partnership
Webedia has been responsible for organizing the LFL since the competition's inaugural season in 2019. The company's departure marks another step in its gradual withdrawal from the esports sector.

The company previously organized the EMEA Masters between 2024 and 2025 but was replaced as the tournament's operator in 2026. Following the departure of Webedia's former Head of Esports, Bertrand Amar, the newly created organization Neo (New Esports Org.) took over the organization of EMEA Masters and several other esports events.

LFL Searches for a New Organizer
With Webedia stepping away, the LFL must secure a new operator for the 2027 season. One potential candidate could be Neo , whose co-founder Bertrand Amar played an important role in the creation of the LFL and has extensive experience in organizing esports competitions.

However, no new organizer for the league has been officially confirmed.

The situation is similar to the one faced by Spain's Superliga earlier this year, when the competition changed operators and was eventually taken over by LastLap.

Another Sign of Challenges for the ERL Ecosystem
The change comes at a difficult time for the European Regional League ecosystem. The LFL did not hold a single in-person event in 2026, marking the first time this has happened since the league's early years during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The French league has also undergone several structural changes this year. LFL Division 2 was removed and replaced by the Nexus League, while the LFL Invitational introduced several influencer-led teams created specifically for the event.

Webedia's departure leaves one of Europe's most prominent Tier 2 League of Legends competitions facing an important transition ahead of the 2027 season, with the identity of its next organizer yet to be announced.
