Generation Gaming Director Explains Why Team Kept Roster, Names 2026 Worlds Victory as Main Goal

The director of  Generation Gaming , Lee "FIFAHUN" Ji-hoon, reviewed the 2025 year and shared the club's plans for the next season.

In an interview with South Korean media, he also explained why the team decided not to make changes to the roster.

According to FIFAHUN, the past year should not be considered unsuccessful, despite not winning the World Championship title. In the 2025 season, Generation Gaming won the LCK and MSI, and consistently performed at a high level for nine months. The manager emphasized that he especially values the players' decision to keep the roster intact and attempt to win Worlds once more.

I don't want to call it a failure. As a general manager, I can't imagine a happier year. We didn't win the World Championship, but I am genuinely grateful that this core roster decided to stay together and give themselves another chance to compete for the title.

Lee "FIFAHUN" Ji-hoon, Director of Generation Gaming

Speaking about his role, the director compared the work of a general manager to that of a father. He noted that his task is to provide the team with resources, establish communication between players and the organization, and create conditions where the roster can perform at its best. According to him, this approach helped Generation Gaming secure its reputation as one of the strongest teams in the off-season.

One of the key events of the off-season was the contract extension with jungler Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu. The club's management openly told the player that the core lineup remains unchanged and offered another chance to compete for the World Championship title with the same roster. According to FIFAHUN, this argument was decisive.

The director specifically mentioned the first season of support Zhu "Duro" Min-gyu in the main lineup. Before signing the player, the club consulted with team leaders — Kim "Kiin" Ki-in, Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon, and Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk. Ruler's opinion was particularly important, as he saw high growth potential in Duro.

Additionally, Generation Gaming signed a three-year contract with new head coach Ryu "Ryu" Sang-wook. According to FIFAHUN, the specialist is ideally suited to work in the fearless draft-pick meta, and the appointment was coordinated with the players. The organization is further strengthening its analytical department and focusing on players' physical and psychological well-being, paying attention to Sleep , nutrition, and recovery.

Generation Gaming was founded in 2018 and has since regularly been among the leaders of the Korean League of Legends scene. The team is the LCK and MSI 2025 champion, and its long-term goal remains winning the World Championship.
