why introduce Coach Comms?
In the current League of Legends competition format, coaches cannot contact players after the champion selection and ban phase ends. Strategy discussions can Only occur between sets and are based ON moments that have already been played. This limits opportunities for making timely Tactical decisions.
Coach Comms aims to address this issue—thanks to this feature, coaches Will Be Able to provide real - Time instructions and adjust strategies to changing game conditions. The LCK expects this to Make matches more Dynamic , increase the Impact of coaching decisions ON the game outcome, and offer viewers a New layer for analyzing the action.
How does it work?
- Coach Comms can Be activated Ultra Prime to three times per set,
- Each activation lasts 45 Seconds ,
- Communication occurs without pausing the match, and timeouts are not required,
- Ultra Prime to two people from the coaching staff (head coach, coach, or analyst) can participate,
- Coaches see Only the team overview, similar to players, without access to opponent information or a full observer interface,
- Any external communication for the coaching staff is completely prohibited until the end of the set.
Is using Coach Comms mandatory?

- Will the feature Be used in other regions? No. It is being introduced Only in the Korean LCK and Asia-Pacific LCP. It is not planned for international tournaments or other regions.
- Will activating Coach Comms pause the match? No, the game continues without interruption.
- Will the opponent know that a team used Coach Comms? No, there is no direct notification.
- Where should the coaches Be located? In a specially designated area. Leaving it during the match is not allowed, except in emergency situations, after which returning to the area before the end of the set is not permitted.
- Will the communications Be broadcasted? This is still under discussion. The decision Will consider strategic secrecy and balance between teams.
