Rumor: Malrang to Switch Roles and Stay with NAVI for LEC Summer 2025

NAVI continues to finalize their roster for the LEC 2025 Summer Split. According to Sheep Esports, the club has decided to keep Kim " Malrang " Geun-seong in the starting lineup, but not in his usual position. The Korean player is expected to switch roles from jungler to support.

Malrang in a New Role
Following Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer's transition to the support position this Winter , Malrang will be the next LEC player to make a role change. Reports indicate that early in the offseason, the player himself informed NAVI management of his willingness to try a new role, although the organization initially considered other options, including keeping him in the jungle.

In recent weeks, NAVI actively searched for a new jungler — candidates included Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski, Enes "Rhilech" Ucan, Kacper "Daglas" Dagiel, and Francisco "Thayger" Mazo Sanchez. Ultimately, the latter joined the team. His signing allowed Malrang to shift to the support position, completing the starting five without exceeding the import limit.

Import Issues and Roster Changes
Finding a support was also challenging. The club considered several candidates, including the experienced Norman "Kaiser" Kaiser and Olivier "Prime" Payet, recommended by the team's new ADC — Lee "Hans SamD" Jae-hoon. However, due to import slot restrictions, NAVI opted for a European jungler, leaving Malrang in the lineup in a different role.

This move also allows NAVI to avoid additional expenses: as confirmed by the club's CEO in an interview with Sheep Esports, former support Lee "Execute" Jong-hun and ADC Patrik "Patrik" Jiru, who were moved to the bench, will continue to receive their salaries. Keeping Malrang in the starting lineup avoids the need to sign another newcomer.
