League of Legends Game Changers Rising – First Women's Tournament in EMEA Region

Riot Games has officially announced a women's tournament for League of Legends in the EMEA region called League of Legends Game Changers Rising. The first season will be a significant step in building a competitive scene for women and individuals who identify as women.

What is LGC Rising?
LGC Rising is the debut tournament under the new League of Legends Game Changers (LGC) initiative, aimed at developing the women's LoL scene similarly to how it has evolved in VALORANT. Riot emphasizes that they do not intend to replace existing initiatives like the Equal Esports Cup or Coupe des Étoiles but aim to collaborate with local tournaments and LEC teams for mutual growth.

The first season of the tournament will begin with online stages and culminate in a grand final on stage during Paris Games Week—one of the largest gaming events in Europe.

LGC Rising will feature a compact format: 8 teams will be divided into two groups, playing bo1 in a round-robin format. The top three teams from each group will advance to the playoffs, where participants will face a double elimination in a bo5 format.
