Riot Games Officially Retains Fearless Draft for 2025 LoL Season

The Fearless Draft will remain in League of Legends until the end of 2025. Riot Games announced the extension of the rule for the entire competitive season on the official LoL Esports website.

Initially, the restricted champion selection mode, which prohibits picking the same champions again within a single series, was introduced as an experiment during the first split and First Stand 2025. After receiving positive feedback from the community and players, Riot Games decided to extend the Fearless Draft to all splits and international tournaments until the end of the year, while continuing to analyze feedback from professional players.

Starting from the second split of 2025, the Fearless Draft will be applied in all regional leagues and will remain in effect until the end of the season, including global tournaments. However, MSI and Worlds will retain their original formats: at the World Championship, the Fearless Draft will be used in all best-of-3 and best-of-5 matches, but the Swiss Stage will remain in the best-of-1 format.

Riot Games developers note that the introduction of the Fearless Draft is expected to lead to increased champion diversity, more unpredictable matches, and new strategies. The company will continue to gather data and interact with professional teams to assess the impact of the changes on the competitive environment.
