Worlds Prize Pool Doubles
The global head of LoL esports, Chris Greeley, recently stated in an interview that Riot Games has significantly increased the prize pools for international tournaments in 2025.
The MSI 2025 will feature a $2 million prize pool, while the Worlds 2025 will boast a record-breaking $5 million. This is more than double last year's amounts: in 2024, the MSI had only $250,000, and the Worlds had $2.25 million.
In addition to the base prize pool, the amount could increase even further thanks to revenue from digital souvenirs—exclusive in-game items purchased by Fans . Riot Games aims not just to boost profits but to create a sustainable ecosystem where both organizers and professional and amateur teams can earn.
We want LoL esports to exist for at least another 30 years. That's why we're investing not only in major tournaments but also in developing young talent through projects like "LoL the Next" in Korea , "Scouting Ground" in North America, and regional reviews in Europe.

The first such digital souvenir in 2025 will be the Battle Academia Xayah skin, which will be available in update 25.6. Previously, developers have also introduced emotes for esports teams.
Chris Greeley also acknowledged that the packed competition schedule in 2025 presents certain challenges for teams. Riot Games is already planning to review the tournament calendar format to give players more preparation time.
