LS:The Fearless Proving Grounds mode is definitely a point of focus for the balance team. Are you satisfied with the speed of version iterations, or do you think the Fearless Proving Grounds mode is an unfortunate inevitability?
Riot Phroxzon: When you talk about iteration or change, I think you're discussing whether professional players can innovate. I believe innovation is mostly the responsibility of strong teams, but only a few strong teams are willing to innovate or know how to innovate. Historically, G2 has played well and also innovated. Thank you, G2 Esports ! And thanks to those teams that are good at innovating.
But if you're a bottom-ranked team and player, would you innovate by playing Kog'Maw mid? Even if it means the team gets relegated, or you never get another chance to play professionally? The incentive structure of the entire industry doesn't allow these players to innovate. So, the ones who can innovate must be top players and teams.
I wouldn't blame teams for not innovating or choosing to be conservative. If I were in their situation, I would do the same. Unless I were a strong team or one with a significant lead. After looking into these issues, we can naturally conclude that we can't change the players; we need to rethink our balance philosophy and our BP strategy. The entire industry's framework doesn't naturally support this kind of innovation. We can't expect players to risk being fired to improve our viewership experience. If I were in their position, I wouldn't do it either.
