Oner : The spring split and the world championship versions are usually favorable for us, so we are very confident about the playoffs.

Live on August 18th 2024 LCK Summer Split regular season second round T1 defeated FOX 2-0, and after the match, jungler Oner was interviewed by Korean media. The original video translation is as follows:

Q: Thoughts on the end of the summer split regular season?

Oner : First of all, I feel that this season ended very quickly, and it feels more regrettable than I imagined. I think our performance wasn't particularly good, although a bit disappointing, but I am very confident in our performance in the playoffs, so overall it feels pretty good.

Q: Typical T1 side lane operations in the first game?

Oner : Actually, before the match, rather than discussing tactics, we found a composition during the BP phase that could utilize the side lanes well. Therefore, we chose AD Kennen as the last pick and decided to use this to operate the side lanes. I think we performed well according to our prepared strategy.

Q: Cooperation with Bard in the second game, was it pre-planned?

Oner : Actually, the Bard pick wasn't particularly pre-planned, but a decision made based on the situation at the time. I think it's a champion that can be chosen based on different situations, so rather than being a prepared pick, it was because Minseok was confident with this champion that we decided to pick him.

Q: In the second game, you put Sejuani in a difficult position, was it because you are very familiar with Sejuani?

Oner : Actually, I think in the matchup between Lillia and Sejuani, Lillia has many opportunities to shine from the early to mid-game, so I was more proactive and performed well. It wasn't because I played Sejuani a lot that I performed like this, but because the team cooperated well, so we could perform like this.

Q: A clean and decisive victory, any changes in BP?

Oner : Actually, rather than changes in BP, we made more targeted preparations. Because this time we were facing FOX, we specifically devised a BP strategy targeting FOX.

Q: There were some difficulties adapting to the version, recently there is a feeling of "the version doesn't matter, we go our own way"?

Oner : Actually, in the early to mid-season, we did have that feeling. Because at that time, the mid lane AD version was very popular, and many new champions emerged, so we tried to keep up with that version for a while. But later we realized that doing what we are good at is more beneficial for us and can achieve a better win rate. So we returned to the compositions we are good at in BP.

Q: You might face KT in the playoffs, how are you preparing?

Oner : Actually, rather than special preparations, we are maintaining personal practice while devising a BP strategy targeting KT. Because we defeated KT in the second round, our confidence has also increased. If we can manage our condition well, I think we can win easily.

Q: You once said "skin revenue cannot be shared equally", what do you think about this?

Oner : Of course, my thoughts haven't changed. I believe my skin will sell the best, although Faker is an exception, but I personally think my skin is the best. Additionally, Lee Sin is a champion that many players like to use, so that's why I think so.

Q: Will you use Lee Sin's skin in the playoffs or world championship?

Oner : If the version allows Lee Sin to appear, I will definitely consider using this skin. As long as the conditions allow, I should use it.

Q: What was the reason for T1's particular difficulties in the summer split?

Oner : Actually, we didn't particularly discuss "facing difficulties." Instead, we talked more about how to make our strengths work. I think this is mainly due to version differences. The spring split and the World Championship versions are usually favorable to us, while the MSI and summer split versions seem to be slightly unfavorable, which may have caused fluctuations in our performance.

Q: The reason for T1's recovery before the World Championship?

Oner : It's probably a psychological change. All along, when the playoffs or World Championship are approaching, we always perform better unconsciously, so this time we also expect to perform the same. We performed well in today's match, so now we can prepare for the playoffs more easily.

Q: "Thanks to Oner, we made it to the playoffs," what's the secret to maintaining good form during the summer split?

Oner : First of all, I am very grateful for everyone's evaluation, but personally, I feel that I still have many shortcomings and regrets, so I think I need to improve more to perform better.

Q: The fatigue brought by frequent version updates?

Oner : Indeed, with the constant changes in versions, we need to adapt and experiment a lot, so fatigue is inevitable. But I think as long as we keep working hard, we can eventually find the strong champions suitable for the version faster than others and perform well. So rather than feeling fatigued, I feel we have the opportunity to get ahead of others faster.

Q: Any health issues within the team?

Oner : There are no particular health issues. I think the COVID-19 situation was just bad luck, and Minseok's stomach discomfort seemed to be caused by eating something wrong. So overall, I don't think there are any major health issues.

Q: "BO5 T1," the determination for the playoffs?

Oner : We have played many BO5s and won many of them, so we are very confident about this summer playoff. No matter who the opponent is, we will strive to win beautifully, play excitingly, and have fun.

Q: Anything you want to say to your teammates?

Oner : Anyway, being able to participate in the summer split with this team again, achieving an 11-7 record, and successfully entering the playoffs, I want to say to all the players that you have worked hard, and I hope we can showcase our strengths again in the playoffs.

Q: Anything you want to say to the fans?

Oner : Thank you to all the fans who have supported us throughout this summer split regular season. We will perform better in the playoffs and strive to meet again in the final in Gyeongju. Thank you, everyone.
