FISSURE acknowledges unpaid prizes and outlines further repayments for 2027
FISSURE chief executive Nikolai Vesnin has acknowledged outstanding prize-money obligations to Dota 2 and CS2 teams, apologising to affected players and outlining plans for further repayments.
In an official statement, Vesnin said Dota 2 payments began in October, with the next major repayment phase planned for the first quarter of 2027.
Commercial planning failures created the shortfall
Vesnin attributed the financial problems to mistakes in the company’s 2025 planning.
he said FISSURE committed to tournament costs while relying on expected revenue that had Not been secured through signed contracts. A major anticipated sponsorship agreement did Not materialise, while another event failed to meet commercial requirements concerning its participating teams.
Vesnin accepted responsibility for those decisions rather than presenting the shortfall solely as an external problem.
Repayments depend on continuing operations
According to the statement, approximately half of the outstanding CS2 prize debt has been repaid. Dota 2 repayments began with a first wave covering some teams.
Vesnin said individual repayment schedules are being discussed with clubs and argued that continuing to organise events provides the revenue needed to address the debts.
he also said prize pools for new tournaments are now secured before those events begin.
FISSURE plans to publish a further progress update in the first quarter of 2027. The statement did Not establish a single date by which all outstanding obligations would be cleared.
