kaffs praises Topson's unique approach to Dota 2 and outlines OG 's goals
OG head coach Igor "kaffs" Furtado believes Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen possesses an exceptional understanding of Dota 2, allowing the two-time The International champion to identify strategies and hero choices that other players might overlook.
Speaking during an interview on the Dejet YouTube channel, kaffs discussed the team's drafting philosophy, leadership structure and expectations for the new competitive season.
kaffs explains Topson's drafting flexibility
According to kaffs, Topson possesses two particularly valuable qualities.
The first is his confidence on familiar heroes, allowing OG to select those picks early in the draft even when opponents have opportunities to respond.
His second strength is an unusually broad collection of unconventional heroes that can be selected when OG gives him greater drafting priority.
The coach explained that the team regularly practices both approaches, balancing early comfort picks against flexible selections tailored to particular opponents.
He emphasized the importance of trusting Topson's judgment while also recognizing when experimental strategies are unsuccessful.
OG operate without a designated captain
kaffs also revealed that OG do not have a single, clearly designated captain responsible for every in-game decision.
Instead, leadership responsibilities are shared among the players depending on the situation.
He explained that heroes with strong timings can influence the team's immediate movements, initiators help coordinate engagements, and support players communicate tactical plans throughout matches.
The coach believes the approach has worked well during the roster's initial development.
Consistent top-eight finishes remain primary objective
Despite his confidence in the roster, kaffs said OG must first establish themselves as regular participants in major tournaments.
His initial competitive target is to consistently challenge for top-eight finishes before setting higher expectations.
OG finished seventh–eighth at BLAST Slam VIII, a result kaffs viewed positively given the team's limited time together.
He acknowledged that OG had opportunities to defeat 1w Team but failed to capitalize on them.
The coach believes those performances indicate that the roster has room to improve, although he emphasized that teams such as Spirit , PARIVISION , Team Yandex , Liquid, Aurora and BetBoom Team remain formidable opponents.
OG will continue working toward regular playoff appearances as its new roster develops throughout the season.
