PGL Wallachia Season 9 at risk as post-TI roster shuffle disrupts Dota 2 calendar

PGL Wallachia Season 9 at risk as post-TI roster shuffle disrupts Dota 2 calendar

PGL Wallachia Season 9 is reportedly at risk of cancellation as professional Dota 2's massive post-The International roster shuffle begins affecting the tournament calendar.

Organizers are reportedly struggling to secure enough teams for the $1 million LAN event, which is scheduled to begin on September 17 in Bucharest.

The situation follows the indefinite postponement of 1win Essence III for the same reason.

PGL reportedly searching for teams

According to a report from GabeNews, PGL has begun accepting applications from teams interested in competing rather than relying exclusively on direct invitations.

Many tier-one organizations have yet to finalize their rosters following The International 2026.

That leaves potential participants unable to commit to tournaments while negotiations and player transfers remain unresolved.

The timing creates another problem.

With only around two weeks remaining before PGL Wallachia Season 9 is scheduled to begin, some players would also need sufficient time to secure visas to travel to Romania .

1win Essence III already postponed

PGL is not the first organizer affected by the reshuffle.

1win Essence III was originally scheduled to run online from September 2 to 14 but was postponed indefinitely.

Its organizers explicitly cited unfinished tier-one rosters as the reason.

The tournament will still take place at a later date, although new dates have not been announced.

The previous 1win Essence event carried a $200,000 prize pool and was won by Team Liquid shortly before The International 2026.

Post-TI shuffle leaves calendar exposed

The International traditionally triggers one of the largest roster-shuffle periods of the Dota 2 season.

This year has been particularly turbulent.

Team Falcons have been linked with a potential breakup, Team Liquid could lose multiple players, Aurora Gaming are preparing a rebuilt lineup, and several organizations including Alliance and BC.Game have been linked with entirely new projects.

Many star players also remain without confirmed destinations.

The instability means tournament organizers trying to stage events immediately after TI are facing a shortage of finalized tier-one lineups.

PGL Wallachia Season 9 remains scheduled for September 17–27 in Bucharest with a $1 million prize pool, but its status now appears uncertain.
