Dota 2 Average Online Player Count Rises by 15,000 in May

In May 2025, the average online player count for Dota 2 increased by 15,814 compared to April. The average number of players reached 408,987, with peak online users hitting 657,074.

This growth in online activity was a direct result of the release of patch 7.39 Spring Forward, which launched on May 23. Developers revamped the interface, updated the map, expanded settings, and made gameplay changes. The update was one of the most significant in recent months.

In April, Dota 2's online player count had dropped by more than 9,000 players, but the increase in May nearly compensated for this decline. Patch 7.39 was a key factor in rekindling interest in the game.
