Quinn gave an extremely honest take on how the patch affected Gaimin Gladiators
After his interview at PGL Wallachia 3, Quinn “Quinn” Callahan remarked that Patch 7.38b allowed Gaimin Gladiators to use its features in combination with their gameplay and that, at least for now, the patch is beneficial for the team. He also added that this could change in the near future.
"I think the new patch helped us. Change is always welcome when you've been stuck in a routine, no matter where it comes from. A change in perspective is always needed. There comes a time when you need to dispose of what you have not been able to achieve, shift, and try something new. It feels really cool to have the burden of expectations lifted off your shoulders”
Quinn did say that, while the midseason patch positively impacted GG's performance, it did so because it forced them to let go of some of their previous approach to problem solving. He said that the team’s results were suffering due to over-reliance on certain strategies. At the same time, he was candid in expressing that the patch will eventually work against them, and could hurt their performance due to the patch not suiting their needs.
“This patch as well as the map, is likely to be useful to us, at least we hope so. In a month’s time, we might find that this update doesn’t suit us and we might be in big trouble, but for now, things are good”
The midlaner was candid about the potential risks for Gaimin Gladiators down the road since as the patch is understood deeper, it might poorly affect their approach.
Earlier, a source suggested that Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard is set to leave Gaimin Gladiators and step away from Dota 2 professional gaming.
