Korb3n explained why Aurora hired a coach with 2,000 MMR
Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov, Aurora coach, is simply registered as a placeholder with 2000 MMR to prevent the organization from losing a tournament slot since Aurora , as he explained, has no current head coach.
He published this via his Telegram.
“My assumption is that tournament organizers have 6, 7 or 8 paid slots, and they guarantee a coach and manager are listed also. Each slot includes flights, hotel accommodations, and food for the duration of the tournament. This is specifically designed to cover 5 players + Manager + Coach. The way it works is without a coach or manager, anyone can be covered for the trip but absent the funds and paid trip will go to waste. In this case, the CEO of Aurora just took the trip for free”
Korb3n stressed how a coach was not needed, but the organization wanted to fill the slot so it served no purpose. He added they will eventually hire a coach, but the pricing problem is harsh at the moment. Aurora players are known to be quite difficult to deal with, so not every coach would suit such a roster, he explained.
“Why doesn’t Aurora just hire a coach? I believe they will, but right now the coach market is dead. Any decent player that could be a coach is earning way more money streaming on twitch . And the people in Aurora are not the easiest, you can’t just come in off the street and mingle with them”
