The Team Spirit manager commented on the announcement of The International 2025
Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov, Team Spirit Dota 2 team manager, is also happy that The International 2025 will happen in Europe once again, as he speculated that Valve might increase the initial prize pool for the World Dota 2 Championship this year.
He shared his reaction regarding the TI14 announcement on a twitch stream.
“Germany - awesome, timing- awesome. So, we are back to what timing is perfect for Europe. They are probably going to wait for how the viewership goes for this TI. It is very important for this TI to hit **** viewership. Of course, it will be high if the Eastern European teams reach the finals”
Korb3n pointed out that this will be suitable for many teams due to the viewing time being ideal for European audiences. He added that the game developers and the organizers will definitely pay attention to the popularity of the tournament this year. Also, he mentioned a tiny chance for Valve to increase the initial prize pool but was not sure that it could happen.
“No, no, no, Dota 2 no longer depends on TI. The prize pool won’t be bigger. It’ll be the same system as always. The prize pool will increase only if people decide they don’t need money and buy a ton of Compendiums. Maybe Valve will increase the initial prize pool, but I’m not sure about that. It won’t grow in any other way. Valve won’t change the system”
Still, Korb3n continued that Valve is not likely to make any alterations to the prize pool system for The International 2025, so its amount probably won’t surprise anyone. He also remarked that this tournament will be much popular depending on the teams that qualify for the finals.
Recall that Valve announced remarkably The International 2025 some time back and dedicated a separate interview for this year’s Dota 2 World Championship.
