Valve updated CS2 rankings: changes in the top 20
On February 3, Valve published an update of the CS2 rankings, which determines the entries to upcoming tournaments until May 19, 2025 inclusive. This update has caused significant changes in the positions of many teams, especially in the top 20.
Changes in the rankings
After taking into account the results of the latest matches at IEM Katowice 2025, including Mouz vs. Liquid, The MongolZ vs. GamerLegion and Astralis vs. FURIA Esports , the rankings have been adjusted as follows:
Vitality (+2): Moved up to 4th place with 1821 points, overtaking FaZe and NAVI.
FaZe (-1): Lost one position and dropped to 5th place (1805 points).
NAVI (-1): Dropped from 5th to 6th place (1755 points).
Eternal Fire (+2): Moved up to 7th place (1687 points), passing Mouz and Falcons .
Falcons (-1): Down to 9th place with 1645 points.
Virtus.pro (+9): Made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving up to 12th place (1505 points).
GamerLegion (+1): Moved up to 13th place with 1504 points.
3DMAX (+1): Up to 14th place with 1487 points.
Astralis (+4): Moved up to 15th place (1468 points) thanks to good form.
pain (-4): Dropped from 12th to 16th place (1445 points).
MIBR (-4): Lost ground, dropping to 17th place (1393 points).
Wildcard (-1): Down to 18th place with 1350 points.
BIG (-3): Down to 19th place (1350 points).

Problems with the calculation of points
However, a controversial situation arose with the awarding of points. Teams that have already dropped out of IEM Katowice 2025 received all the points for participating in the tournament as of February 3. However, those who continue to compete have not received these points. This can lead to unfair changes in the ranking, because those who have been eliminated have received all the points, and the teams that have not yet been eliminated are not credited with this.
How did this affect the invitation?
The most interesting thing was the fact that GamerLegion lagged behind Virtus.pro by only one point. Because of this, GL may lose direct entries to such key events as BLAST Lisbon 2025 and PGL Bucharest 2025.
Valve has not yet commented on this situation, and it is not known whether the scoring will be adjusted after the IEM Katowice.
