After defeating Astralis , you said "This is for Swisher ", what did you mean by that?
(Laughs) He is my good friend, and I remember he was very sad about a past experience, and it took him a long time to get over it.
So, in part, it was a joke, but also a way to fulfill Swisher's wish, because he never had the chance to face Astralis. (Note: Rumor has it that Swisher's ex-girlfriend JessKranny cheated with Astralis player stavn , it is currently unclear if stavn knew JessKranny had a boyfriend at the time.)
How do you feel about making it to the IEM Cologne playoffs?
Honestly, it's great, I'm very happy. Having the Guatemalan flag appear in Cologne is a historic breakthrough, and I feel very excited and proud.
Are you surprised by G2's rapid progress? Did you think the team would need more time to get in sync?
I think I can still do better. But at the same time, I'm not surprised, everyone at G2 has been very good to me, making me feel at home. It has been like this since the first day we met, so I am very grateful to them.
Did you ever think you would team up with star players like NiKo , m0NESY , and Snax ?
I didn't originally plan to leave M80 , but when the opportunity to team up with NiKo and m0NESY came, I couldn't refuse. The M80 brothers also understood my decision, they said it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up, and they knew joining G2 was better for me.
After losing to SAW in the first stage in Cologne, G2 found themselves again. What did you talk about after losing to SAW?
We had a long discussion. We talked about the schedule for the day, how to prepare for the match, and the team's mindset during the game.
We promised not to be arrogant no matter who the opponent is. We need to respect our opponents more and respect everything.
I think we needed that conversation, it was a wake-up call for us.
In the years before joining M80, from the outside, it seemed your team was not doing well. Can you talk about your career from your perspective?
Before joining M80, I was very frustrated and felt hopeless. I had never made it to a Major, and in big tournaments, I was always out in the group stage or stopped at the qualifiers.
I hope no one else experiences that feeling because it's really awful. Especially when you've sacrificed so much but can't reach the top, it hurts even more.
But since joining G2, everything has gotten better. Now I am standing in the Cologne playoffs, and it feels great.
So in your opinion, were some teams not a good fit for you?
Yes, everything fell into place after joining M80. At that time, WolfY and maNkz were in the team, and we were already a good team, but not that strong yet.
When slaxz- and s1n joined, it felt like the team's strength increased a lot. slaxz- helped me a lot, and s1n's instructions made me better, his system is great.
I guess G2's offer came earlier than you expected?
Yes (laughs).
What is your next goal?
I hope to win an MVP award in a tournament and also win a championship. There are still six months left in the year, and I hope to make it to the Top 20 list this year. I think it's not impossible, let's wait and see.
What about the Major?
I almost forgot about the Major. Winning the Major would be crazy, to be honest.
