Zont1x : "I DON'T CARE IF PEOPLE [DON'T] TALK ABOUT ME IF I'M GOING TO WIN 10 CHAMPIONSHIPS"
As Spirit continue their stellar run of form at IEM Katowice with a semi-final victory over Falcons , all eyes have been trained on Danil "donk" Kryshkovets who has averaged a phenomenal 1.63 rating in the main event so far. But an oft-overlooked component to Spirit 's success has been the team's equally young Ukrainian star, Myroslav "zont1x" Plakhotia, who has posted a strong 1.18 rating as the team's third highest-rated player.
Shortly after his team's victory over Falcons , Zont1x speaks regarding Spirit 's dominance versus Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's men, his thoughts about being in the shadows of Donk and Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov, and his feelings regarding the team's impending match versus FaZe.
Q: zont1x, congratulations on making it to the grand final. Tell me a bit about the game against Falcons, apart from a small part of Anubis it looked like you guys were in complete control. How did you do that?
Zont1x : We were ready. We are just playing our game. We have a lot of things we can do on the map, so we are just doing the things that we believe are the best against our enemies, and it's working. And we have Donk , we have sh1ro , we have an experienced captain, an experienced coach, we have magixx who can win clutches, we have me who can prefire an AWP at any point. That's it. We're just playing our game and it's working.
Q: This is your first Big Event and you're making it to the grand final. What does that mean to you, to know that you're gonna be fighting for the title tomorrow?
Zont1x : It's feeling good, obviously, because I was playing like FACEIT practice and some tier-three tournaments for years, and now I'm playing here. That's exactly what I was aiming for. Of course I feel great, but I think I will feel better after tomorrow's game if we're going to win, obviously.
Q: You were talking about how you have your amazing teammates... I was going to ask you, everybody's talking about donk and all the attention is on him, does it feel a little bit like you're being overshadowed?
Zont1x : Nah. I think he deserves all the attention he has, I think sh1ro deserves all the attention he has. I don't care if people are not going to talk about me if I win like 10 championships. I don't care, I'm just winning. If you want you can talk about me, if you don't want you can just talk about Donk or whatever. I don't care.
Q: I saw in the pre-game interview you did with BanKs that you said something like it didn't seem logical to you that you were going to be nervous on the stage. When you actually played the match, did you feel nothing? Did the adrenaline or the pressure not get to you at any point?
Zont1x : Obviously, in the first rounds of the game you feel a little bit nervous, but after like three or four rounds it just disappears for me. It's the same when you play tier-three tournament or here. It doesn't change for me.
Q: Tell me about FaZe tomorrow. You played them already in a BO3 and it was pretty comfortable. How are you expecting that to go tomorrow in a five-map series?
Zont1x : To be honest, I'm not expecting anything so that I can have no regrets. I'm not expecting anything, I just hope we will play our game. That's it.
