MOUZ QUALIFY FOR SPODEK OVER GAMERLEGION
xertioN and Brollan dominated the server against GamerLegion
MOUZ became the third playoff team at IEM Katowice after their 2-0 victory against GamerLegion (Overpass 16-14, Ancient 13-6). Dorian "xertioN" Berman and Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin were fantastic in the series, with xertioN's 1.78-rated performance on Overpass a massive component of MOUZ's victory.
The Israeli rifler joined the desk after the match and talked about the biggest reason for their impressive performances in Poland. "We are getting better at understanding our roles in the team and letting siuhy call, it's the main reason we played well today."
"I just want to make sure I'm prepared for the game, the mental stuff, and routines. I believe I can reach a much higher level, hopefully this game proves that," he said of his carry performance.
MOUZ will now face off against the winner of G2 vs. ENCE for a semi-final spot on Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek's first IEM Katowice appearance, while Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski and GamerLegion will look to add to the Polish playoff contingent with their lower-bracket run. They require two straight victories to make it to the Spodek, with their first test coming against Heroic.
GamerLegion started the series by winning the T-side pistol but had little to show for otherwise on their offensive side. They won just one gun round and were visibly second-best in a 3-9 half. Once the sides switched, so did the game's momentum, and GamerLegion started to claw back at the deficit.
Isak "isak" Fahlén had a couple of impactful clutches and solo B-site holds that eventually meant he and his team were 12-11 up, but xertioN won a clutch of his own to force out overtime. The Israeli never cooled off in overtime and led his team to an overtime victory with his 35 kills, 115 ADR, and 11 multi-kills, with Brollan providing solid support to the Israeli.
xertioN continued his rampage on Ancient and got a quad-kill in the pistol round that got his team an early lead, but he couldn't keep up the same impact he had on Overpass. That allowed GamerLegion back into the game, with Snax and company putting together a five-round streak to go into the second half at 6-6.
The second half was all one-way traffic for siuhy and company, who won seven rounds in a row to close out a dominant 13-6 victory and secure their spot in the Spodek. Their group-stage campaign is not over yet, however, as they will play a seeding match against the winner of ENCE vs. G2 on Tuesday.
