EG terminates partnership with ESL
The American organization plans to exit esports, freeing themselves from another significant contract.
ESL announced the termination of their partnership with Evil Geniuses following mutual agreement to end their involvement in the "Louvre Agreement," after several reports hinted at EG's complete departure from esports, including their formal exit from the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS).
In recent weeks, EG parted ways with most of their CS:GO team members, with Jadan Postma | HexT and Vincent Cayonte | Brehze transferring to NRG at the end of November, while Jeorge Endicott | Jeorge and Paytyn Johnson | junior left for Nouns on Thursday.
As part of the "Louvre Agreement" since its signing in 2020, EG was automatically invited to every ESL Pro League season and some other ESL competitions, earning a portion of the revenue. Despite being the least performing partner team for the majority of the time, ranking bottom four in four out of six seasons and missing playoffs in the other two, they remained partners due to a clause in the agreement triggering a review of the permanent slot if a partner team ranked bottom three times in four seasons.
