Astralis reportedly close to signing cmtry on loan in surprise role switch

Astralis are reportedly preparing to sign Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov on loan from FUT Esports as the Danish organization continues evaluating changes to its Counter-Strike 2 roster.

According to an initial report by Sébastien "KRL" Perez, subsequently corroborated by HLTV's sources, cmtry is expected to join Astralis as a rifler rather than his usual AWPing role.

The proposed move has not been officially confirmed.

Astralis explore double roster change

The report follows earlier information suggesting Astralis are seeking immediate replacements for Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard after contract negotiations with both players reached an impasse.

cmtry recently lost his starting position at FUT Esports following the arrival of Álvaro "SunPayus" García.

The 19-year-old had previously helped FUT win PGL Bucharest, earning the tournament's HLTV MVP award, but struggled to consistently reproduce that level during subsequent tier-one appearances.

Potential switch from AWP to rifling

Should the transfer proceed, cmtry would make a significant change to his playing role.

The Ukrainian has primarily operated as an AWPer since joining NaVi Youth in 2023.

Moving into a rifling position would represent a new challenge as Astralis attempt to restructure their roster despite recently winning Stake Ranked Episode 4.

No agreement or starting-lineup changes have been formally announced by Astralis .
