
PGL Astana 2025: Format, Participating Teams, and Prize Pool Overview
As the favorite to win the event, Team Spirit will fly to Kazakhstan to compete for the $400,000 championship prize.
Teams
The PGL Astana tournament will kick off on Saturday, May 10, with many challengers eager to stop favorites Spirit from lifting the trophy.
These teams include Natus Vincere , aurora and The MongolZ , who hope to fully demonstrate their abilities in this event, as top teams such as Vitality , Mouz and Falcons did not participate in the event.
In Astana we will see Olek Miskiewicz | hades debut for G2 , Rasmus Nielsen | HooXi debut for Astralis , Danil Golubenko | molodoy and Mareks Gaļinskis | YEKINDAR debut for FURIA Esports . Ninjas in Pyjamas will also have their first offline tournament with the new lineup.
Schedule and Format
The tournament format is the same as PGL Cluj-Napoca and PGL Bucharest, starting with the Swiss rounds and using the Major-style Bucholz seeding method, with the initial matchup being the No. 1 seed versus the No. 9 seed.
But unlike Bucharest, the Barys Arena, which can accommodate 11,578 people, will have spectators watching the knockout stage.
The eight qualified teams will start their knockout journey from the quarterfinals. On suNday , after the third-place match, the two final teams will compete in a BO5 championship match.
Prize Pool
PGL's traditional top-heavy prize distribution rules are in effect, with participating teams competing for $1.25 million in prize money. 50% of the prize pool will be given directly to the clubs.
