Team Envy is preparing to return to Counter-Strike

The French-American organization Team Envy , which won the DreamHack Cluj-Napoca 2015 major, may return to the Counter-Strike pro scene. The new owner of the club, Mike Rufeil, also known as hastr0, announced this on his official X account.

Mike wrote, adding that he and Deranged Native are already actively working in this direction.

Rufeil acquired the Envy brand from OpTic Gaming in February 2025, and now intends to return the organization to the discipline where it has been most successful. During the existence of the CS:GO roster, Envy managed to become a major champion, win more than 15 LAN tournaments and form a number of legendary rosters, including karrigan , kennyS , Happy , NBK-, apEX , ScreaM , jdm64 , FugLy , MICHU , Thomas and many others.

The last active Envy team was disbanded in 2021, and since then, the organization has not participated in any Counter-Strike tournaments. After the launch of CS2 , Envy also refrained from returning, but the situation began to change.

While Envy is coming back, others are leaving

It is interesting that more and more clubs are leaving the CS scene amid this news. In 2024-2025 alone, such brands as Apeks , Sprout , Nostalgia, GameAgents , aimclub , Endpoint , FLUFFY AIMERS , BLEED TALON , and Gaimin Gladiators left the discipline. Some of them suspended their work due to financial difficulties, others - after failing to perform at top tournaments.

Thus, the return of Envy could be a new breath of fresh air for the CS2 ecosystem - especially as the interest of major brands in the discipline is gradually recovering.
