NRG's new lineup revealed: Marved returns, joined by Demon1 and Ethan
NRG has announced their 2024 roster, featuring former Evil Geniuses duo Max "Demon1" Mazanov and Ethan "Ethan" Arnold. Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen completes the lineup, reuniting with his teammates after over a year apart.
Following their conquest under OpTic Gaming's banner, the team eventually split, with Marved remaining inactive for a part of 2023. He was later picked up as the sixth player for Sentinels and, after a few weeks in that role, was promoted during their mid-season adjustments. Marved played nine matches for Sentinels, securing four victories in a challenging series. The team ranked seventh in VCT Americas and fourth in the Americas LCQ.
Joining NRG, Marved reunites with former teammates Austin "crashies" Roberts and Victor "Victor" Wong, with whom he won the Reykjavik Masters in 2022 and narrowly missed claiming the championship in 2022 Champions by just two maps.
Ethan and Demon1 emerged as two of the standout players in 2023. Evil Geniuses had a modest regular season in the Americas region, barely qualifying for the playoffs before securing a third-place finish. Subsequently, they had two remarkable Valorant seasons, earning runners-up at the Tokyo Masters, defying expectations, and closing the year as world champions after victories against DRX, LOUD, and Paper Rex.
Moving into 2024, coach Chet "Chet" Singh confirmed Ethan would take over the IGL role previously held by Pujan "FiNESSE" Mehta, who parted ways with NRG alongside longtime member Sam "s0m" Oh earlier in the year. Both players are expected to remain inactive in 2024.
NRG Esports' 2024 lineup consists of:
- Austin "crashies" Roberts
- Victor "Victor" Wong
- Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen
- Ethan "Ethan" Arnold
- Max "Demon1" Mazanov
- Chet "Chet" Singh (Coach)
