Selangor Red Giants sweep Team Rey to secure MPL Malaysia final and M8 qualification

Selangor Red Giants defeated Team Rey 3–0 in the MPL Malaysia Season 18 upper final, securing the first grand-final berth and qualification for the M8 World Championship.

The victory completed a perfect 6–0 game run through Selangor Red Giants ’s first two playoff series, following their sweep of Bigetron MY by VIT .

Three straight wins settle the upper final

Selangor Red Giants won the opener in 23 minutes and 20 seconds, then took Game 2 in 19:29.

Team Rey could not extend the series, with Selangor Red Giants completing the third game in 21:45. The result reversed the outcome of their most recent regular-season meeting, which Team Rey had won 2–1 on 20 September.

Team Rey entered the upper final after sweeping Vamos, but suffered the same scoreline themselves against the regular-season leaders.

Team Rey receive one final opportunity

Selangor Red Giants advanced directly to the best-of-seven grand final on 1 November, scheduled for 16:30 UTC+7.

Team Rey dropped into the lower final against Vamos on 31 October at 16:30 UTC+7, setting up a rematch of their upper semifinal.

The winner of that best-of-seven series will join Selangor Red Giants in the championship match and claim Malaysia’s remaining MPL qualification place for M8. Selangor Red Giants can now prepare for the final with their world championship berth already secured.
