Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Mongolia top Asian Games MLBB groups

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competition at the 2026 Asian Games opened on September 29 with Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Mongolia finishing atop their respective groups.

Eight teams advanced to the single-elimination playoffs, while Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were eliminated after the one-day group stage.

Myanmar sweep Group A

Myanmar completed a perfect Group A campaign without dropping a game.

They opened with a 2:0 victory over Uzbekistan before repeating the scoreline against Hong Kong.

Hong Kong claimed the second playoff spot after defeating Uzbekistan 2:1.

Myanmar finished first at 2–0 with a perfect 4–0 game record, while Hong Kong advanced as runner-up.

Malaysia beat Indonesia to take Group B

Malaysia produced one of the biggest results of the opening day by sweeping Indonesia 2:0.

They followed that victory with a 2:1 win over Saudi Arabia to complete a perfect 2–0 group stage.

Indonesia recovered from their opening defeat by sweeping Saudi Arabia 2:0 in the final Group B series, securing second place and a spot in the quarterfinals.

Malaysia finished first with a 4–1 game record, while Indonesia advanced at 1–1.

Philippines go perfect in Group C

The Philippines dominated Group C with consecutive sweeps over Jordan and Kazakhstan.

The Filipino squad opened with a 2:0 victory over Jordan before closing the group stage with another 2:0 against Kazakhstan.

In the final game against Kazakhstan, the Philippines won Game 1 in 14 minutes before taking Game 2 in just 11 minutes with a 20–4 kill score and approximately 13,000-gold advantage.

Jordan secured the second playoff spot after defeating Kazakhstan 2:1.

The Philippines finished Group C with a perfect 4–0 game record.

Mongolia sweep Cambodia in Group D

Group D featured only Cambodia and Mongolia, with both teams automatically progressing to the knockout stage.

Mongolia nevertheless secured the top seed by sweeping Cambodia 2:0.

The result placed Mongolia first in Group D, with Cambodia advancing as runner-up.

Quarterfinals set

The group-stage results produced four quarterfinal matchups for September 30:

All quarterfinals and semifinals will be played as best-of-three series before the tournament concludes with a best-of-seven gold-medal match on October 1.
