ONIC and Geek Fam Dominate the First Week of MPL ID S16, Yehezkiel Scores the Fastest Savage
MPL Indonesia Season 16 officially opened on August 22nd and immediately delivered a number of surprises in its first week. During Week 1 , the nine competing teams presented their best lineups to begin their journey towards the playoffs . The results showed the dominance of two top teams, ONIC Esports and Geek Fam ID , along with highlights of individuals who broke historic records.
Early Season Domination and Other Teams' Potential
As the defending champions, ONIC Esports performed uncompromisingly. CW and his teammates ended Week 1 with a perfect record, winning 2-0 without dropping a single game . With a +4 game difference, ONIC immediately topped the standings. Similarly, Geek Fam ID also put in a solid performance, securing two wins with a 4-1 scoreline and a +3 game difference. They established themselves as a serious contender this season.
Meanwhile, EVOS Glory , now featuring a new lineup, managed to maintain their momentum. With a clean 2-0 victory in their first match, EVOS secured third place in the Week 1 standings and gained confidence. The biggest highlight of Week 1 came from Yehezkiel ( Team Liquid ID). Against Geek Fam , he used Kimmy and achieved the fastest Savage in MPL Indonesia history with a KDA of 10/0/2 . Although Team Liquid lost the match , this individual achievement immediately became a hot topic in the community. This record also broke the previous record held by EMANN since Season 13 .
