League of Legends Leads in Viewership in 2025

The esports scene in 2025 is already showcasing the distribution of viewer interest, with League of Legends currently holding the lead.

According to peak viewership data, the discipline from Riot Games has become the most-watched game of the year so far.

Current Peak Viewership Metrics

League of Legends achieved an impressive result with 6.8 million peak viewers, confidently outpacing its competitors. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang takes second place with 4.1 million, confirming the steady growth of mobile esports on the global stage.

Following closely are two disciplines: Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, each recording 1.8 million peak viewers, while VALORANT rounds out the top five with 1.5 million.

Important Note on Dota 2

It's important to consider a crucial detail: Chinese viewers are not included in the statistics. During the final of The International 2025, a team from China participated in the decisive match, which means the actual peak viewership for Dota 2 was likely significantly higher. With the Chinese audience considered, Dota 2 might have surpassed CS2's numbers and come close to the mobile disciplines.

What This Means for Esports

The mid-year results of 2025 indicate that League of Legends remains the main driver of viewership in esports, yet the battle for second and third places remains open. With major tournaments in the second half of the year and unaccounted-for regions, the final picture could change significantly.
