Xin Zhao Gets Long-Awaited Visual Update in League of Legends

After 15 years of loyal service to Demacia , Xin Zhao, the stalwart Seneschal, is finally receiving the visual glow-up League of Legends fans have been asking for. Riot Games has confirmed a full visual update (VU) for the veteran spearmaster, modernizing his in-game model, animations, and several outdated skins, all while keeping his gameplay untouched.

This overhaul comes as part of Patch 25.17 in season three, with the goal of bringing Xin’s visuals in line with the game’s modern champions and skin standards. His base model has long lagged behind LoL’s more recent designs, making this refresh a welcome change for fans of both the champion and Demacia ’s lore.

                   

Unvaulted Skins & Price Updates
Alongside the rework, Riot is unvaulting Xin Zhao’s rare legacy skins during patches 25.17 and 25.18, giving players a limited-time chance to pick them up. Notably, older skins like Commando and Imperial Xin Zhao are also receiving a visual touch-up. Their prices will increase from 520 RP to 750 RP after Patch 25.17, so this patch window will be the last opportunity to grab them at their original cost. At the end of Act One, an Epic-tier skin for Xin Zhao will also launch, incorporating his new updated visuals.

Lore & Possible Future Appearances
Xin Zhao’s revamp might tie into Riot’s bigger narrative plans. The champion has already been a pivotal figure in Ionia ’s ongoing storyline alongside Yunara, and season three will introduce LeBlanc and Atakhan as key players. Rumors also swirl that Xin’s updated model could make an appearance in Riot’s next animated series, especially if the story ventures deeper into Demacia and Ionia .
