New 2.5D Beat 'em up Metagame in League of Legends Client

Riot Games is bringing something fresh to the client this July 16 with the Spirit Blossom event, including a brand-new 2.5D side-scrolling beat-’em-up metagame starring Yunara and Xin Zhao. Alongside it, players will see the return of a fan-favorite system in the form of a reimagined Spirit Bonds experience.

The upcoming metagame, is a fully self-contained arcade-style adventure. In this 2.5D beat-’em-up, players will take control of Yunara and Xin Zhao as they unravel the mystery behind the Wyldbloom and explore new story developments within the Spirit Blossom universe. The game is designed to be standalone, meaning you won’t need to play League of Legends to complete or enjoy it.

In addition to the action-packed side game, Riot is also reviving a familiar feature from the original Spirit Blossom event. A spiritual successor to Spirit Bonds will allow players to connect with and befriend various spirits. This system will function more traditionally and will require League gameplay to progress. By playing matches, players can strengthen their bonds and earn small in-game rewards.
