SwordArt Retires After 12 Years in Esports

28-year-old Taiwanese support player Hu " SwordArt " Shuo-Chieh announced his retirement on his Weibo page. One of the most decorated players in League of Legends history has concluded his professional journey, which began in 2013. His last team was Vikings Esports , where he competed in the first half of 2025 in the LCP league.

SwordArt won the LMS six times with Flash Wolves , reached the Mid-Season Invitational semifinals twice in 2017 and 2018, and made it to the 2020 Worlds final with Suning, where they fell to DAMWON Gaming. Following that, he played for TSM , Anyone's Legend , Ultra Prime , and CTBC Flying Oyster . For over a decade, he maintained a high level of play and became one of the last representatives of the first generation on the pro scene.

"My career is like a wave. There were ups and downs, but for me, it was an important and unforgettable journey," SwordArt noted in a video message. He added that he does not plan to disappear but will move forward in a different direction. Further projects have not been announced yet.

Over the years, SwordArt became a key figure for the Taiwanese scene and repeatedly demonstrated world-class skill at international tournaments.
