Riot enforces stricter penalties for soft inting and trolling in League of Legends

Riot Games announced extensive updates to their system for combating toxic behavior. Starting with the upcoming patch, new algorithms will be implemented to automatically identify and penalize players who intentionally disrupt their team but evade the standard AFK detector.

The Punishment System in League Has Gotten Smarter
The system will now be able to detect players who deliberately ruin a match, such as by wandering the map without purpose or sabotaging the game without being marked as AFK. To prevent offenders from bypassing the algorithm, the exact criteria are not disclosed.

Players who receive a notification about an offender's punishment will now see their name — similar to how it works with reports on cheaters. Riot emphasizes that they have conducted a series of tests, achieving a minimal number of false positives.

The developers will continue to update the system and will focus on issues like boosting and smurfing in the future — the experimental True Skill 2 matchmaking will assist with this.

Riot also reported on the work of Vanguard: over 700,000 LP has been restored to more than 30,000 players, and 24,000 cheaters have been banned. Going forward, the team promises to refine the honor system as well.
