Riot denies MSI/EWC merger: No plans to host MSI in the Middle East in the coming years

Chris Greeley, the head of esports strategy for League of Legends, has posted a message on his personal social media, stating that the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) will not be held in Saudi Arabia in the next few years.

Chris Greeley said: " Moving the MSI to July and making this decision was made before we knew about the Esports World Championship. Although it may seem coincidental in terms of timing, I can say with certainty that MSI will not consider holding the event in the Middle East in 2025 (we have no plans to hold MSI in the Middle East in the coming years)."

Previously, Riot had announced adjustments to the 2025 tournament schedule, adding a new international event and delaying MSI to be held in June and July. After the Esports World Championship, there were rumors on the internet that Riot would cancel MSI and move it to the Esports World Championship.
