BLAST confirms US Open event for September 2027 with Swiss stage and expanded playoffs

BLAST will hold its third Open tournament of 2027 in the United States from September 3–12, introducing a Swiss opening stage and expanding the playoffs to eight teams.

The event replaces the second BLAST Bounty season previously scheduled for that period. Its announced financial allocation totals $1 . 25 million in prize money and TeamToWin payments.

Sixteen teams enter an entirely LAN competition

All 16 participants will begin in a Five -day Swiss stage, with eight advancing to a single-elimination playoff bracket. Both stages will take place in the United States, with the playoffs held across three days of arena competition.

The revised structure replaces the previous Open format, which divided 16 teams into two groups before sending six into the playoffs. BLAST also confirmed dual-stream broadcasts for the Swiss stage.

North America receives an additional qualifying place

eleven teams will receive direct invitations through the Valve Regional Standings. Five places will be distributed through regional qualifiers, with North America receiving two berths as the host region and Europe, South America and Asia receiving one each.

Direct invitations will use the may 3, 2027 VRS publication and be issued on may 4.

North America’s closed qualifier is scheduled for July 8–11, while the other three regional qualifiers will run July 9–11. The Swiss stage is scheduled for September 5–9, followed by the playoffs on September 10–12.
