ATF: "I carry the noobs, and I win because I'm good"

Ahead of BLAST Slam IV, Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf of  Team Falcon  opened up about the long road to winning The International 2025.

He reflected on the personal sacrifices made to reach the top level, the crucial role of his family, a bold hero pick during the grand finals, and his mindset moving forward.

Sacrifices behind the scenes

ATF revealed that his climb to the top came at a steep personal cost.

I have sacrificed school, college, university, whatever you want to call it. I have no social life, and I’ve sacrificed my health too. Playing this much Dota isn’t enjoyable.

He credited his family for helping him stay on track throughout his career.

My family helped a lot. My brothers had to travel with me because I was under 18… My mother helped with visas and a lot of personal stuff. They did a lot behind the scenes.

Their support during TI 2025 was deeply emotional, but it came with pressure.

They came just to watch me, not to enjoy TI as fans. Had we not won, it would’ve felt like a disappointment.

Bold choice and team synergy

Reflecting on the tournament, ATF pointed to one standout moment during the grand finals.

For me, it was picking Ursa in the Grand Finals. That hero is one of my best, and being able to play it on such a big stage was really special.

The pick was unconventional for the offlane and carried inherent risk.

It was a very weird pick because if my team didn’t perform well in their lanes, the hero could be useless… But they all showed up.

He also spoke about how his teammates helped elevate his own understanding of the game.

When you play with experienced players, you start to see the game from different perspectives… But in the end, as I always say: I carry the noobs, and I win because I’m good.

Coach, mindset and what comes next

ATF praised coach  Aui_2000  for bringing structure and consistency to the team.

Honestly, without Aui, it would’ve been much harder to improve… Before he joined, we were getting top 6. After he came in, we started winning every qualifier and tournament with ease.

Now, after achieving the biggest title in Dota, his goal is straightforward.

My goal is to farm as much money as possible. I don’t really have a specific tournament goal or a number of TIs I want to win… I just want to keep winning and make as much money as possible.
