Dendi played 2000 matches in League of Legends and honestly compared it to Dota 2

Danil “ Dendi ” Ishutin, the legend of Dota-2 pro scene, said he played about two thousand matches of League of Legends, making him capable of comparing it with Dota 2. He claims that Valve's MOBA is much more engaging and better in terms of strategy.

He stated this in an interview at the Betking esports youtube channel.

“When I played Dota 1, I really liked it. Prior to Dota 2’s release\*, League of Legends was released. I was a the big player of it. I’ve played all MOBA games at some point in my life. I had around 2000 games of League of Legends. I wanted to hit the top 1 rank and flaunt in forums that Dota is supreme. I hit top 40 and then stopped before The International”

Dendi further explained that although he planned to reach the peak rank in order to contest that Dota was better, he chose to stop playing League of Legends in order to prepare for The International.

“If you compare Dota with League of Legends, then that is akin to comparing chess with checkers. Or think of it this way: if you imagined a chessboard, League of Legends has a smaller board size, while Dota has a bigger one. With League of Legends, you had too many constraints on strategy, and I didn’t like that. I’ve played a lot to make this comparison work. There are people who just compare: ‘This game is better than the other one.’ But they have not given enough time to make this call, so everything is just judgement free. Right now, League of Legends is a different game. It has gone through 15 years of changes. I don’t even know how the game is right now. But Dota is still the best one, 100%.”

From what we can understand, according to him, indeed Dota 2 have better strategic gaming options and he tries to argue that Valve's MOBA is better than LoL despite all the changes that has happened on the game over the years.
